Newborn Care Solutions® is ACCREDITED through CACHE International and via their US representative, Nanny Stella, for you to become a CERTIFIED Newborn Care Specialist!
We have compiled some helpful information for you so that you understand the steps to certification and why CACHE certification is such a great route to pursue.
We hope you are as excited as we are about this new opportunity through the World Leader in totally independent, third-party oversight accreditation and certification.
The Council for Awards in Care, Health & Education (CACHE) was formerly known as the famed National Nursery Examinations Board (NNEB) in the U.K. They provide fully independent third-party-verified accreditation and certification for educators and caregivers, setting the standards for the fields of “Care, Health & Education.”
CACHE is recognized worldwide as a legitimate authority with a longstanding reputation for having the highest expectations for their students. Their accreditation and certification programs “have helped millions of learners across the world to raise professional standards, earning [CACHE] a reputation for excellence and leadership across the sector”. Learn more about CACHE here.
Since Newborn Care Solutions®, it’s staff and Independent Contractors have no part in the certification, you have to go to the source. Nanny Stella, INC. is the US authorized representative of CACHE International.
To qualify to apply for certification through CACHE; students must submit the following items to NCSCACHE@gmail.com
Please do not submit your CACHE Certificate fee prior to completing these steps, and do not submit these materials to Nanny Stella, Inc.
* please submit documents as a word doc or pdf. Do not submit .pages
Once you complete these steps and receive your final approval from Newborn Care Solutions, you will be provided with information to proceed with the CACHE steps.
You will find the certification requirements on the website www.NannyStella.com This is what makes the certification so valuable: The rigorous standards are set and upheld by an independent, government-based organization and regularly audited for accuracy and compliance.
I have already taken the Foundational Course through Newborn Care Solutions®; can I apply right away? You will need to go to the Newborn Care Solutions® Website, log into your student portal and watch the updated course and pass the updated exam. Because CACHE had very stringent requirements, some small changes to the course have been made and the new program upholds those. Contact our office for that log-in information. You will also need to make sure you have completed the other requirements for certification such as the required, verifiable hours, First Aid and CPR, etc…
Is there a fee for certification? Yes, this is a fee set by CACHE and Nanny Stella for processing your application. As we are independent of the certification, we do not set or collect this fee.
When can I apply? Please submit the following to NCSCACHE@gmail.com
Do I have to be certified to work as an NCS? No. There are currently no regulations within the US to work as an NCS. Other countries may have other requirements. Many agencies and families are starting to require this to apply.
Is this certification recognized elsewhere? Yes! CACHE has been established since 1945 and is recognized around the world as the Gold Standard for child care course certification. It is recognized in several countries around the world and this certification may help open many doors of opportunity for you!
How is CACHE certification different from other ‘certifications’? Certifications from other organizations can, of course, be meaningful (just like passing any CPR course is far better than having no knowledge at all). But only the certification which is granted by an independent, widely recognized authority in the field has the full weight of professional validity and means that the individual certified has genuinely and reliably achieved mastery of the required content for their profession.
Organizations of professionals who seek to monitor themselves and raise the level of professionalism in their industry offer a tremendous value to the industry through networking and informal continuing education, but they cannot offer independent validation of critical knowledge and skills because by definition, they are not independent at all.
I am a postpartum doula; what about me? Actually, our Foundational NCS course is also APPROVED through CAPPA and qualifies for 16 continuing education units towards your ongoing certification! And families love doulas who are also trained NCS, especially if they are certified for that as well.
